Best Movie Scenes to Motivate Your Fitness Journey

As the weather warms and spring moves into summer, a new chapter for physical fitness begins. For young athletes it’s a sign that playoffs for spring sports are on the horizon and it’s time to begin working towards future goals. For older people this may be the time to work on improving your fitness or even start working out for the first time.

Whatever category you fall into, it’s natural to need some additional motivation on the days when you’re not quite up to the task.

For those who know me, I am a big fan of motivational quotes, songs, and movies so if you need an extra boost, check these out.

My Top 14 Motivational Movie Scenes:

1. Miracle

”Do you think that will get em going” - Herb Brooks.

This is not the best scene from Miracle but it sums up my goal with The Real House MD. I’m just trying to get em going

2. Rocky Balboa

The perfect motivation for the aging athlete. Duke tells Rocky what he can no longer do and then builds a plan to accentuate Rocky’s strengths. Accommodate for past injuries and arthritic joints but keep moving

3. Warrior (Tommy vs. Mad Dog scene)

Be humble and do not underestimate people.

4. The Outlaw of Josey Wales

Somedays you may need to use all your emotions to muster up the required willpower. You may even need to use anger.

5. The Dark Knight Rises

“Then make the climb as the child did, without the rope”

Sometimes you need the mind of a child. For the middle aged, start moving again like you did as a child. For the athlete, play like a child. Stop worrying about the consequences and play without anything holding you back.

6. Vision Quest

When it comes to fitness and athletics you never know who you may inspire. It can be “pretty goddamn glorious, it’s not the 6 minutes, it’s what happens in those 6 minutes.”

7. Hoosiers

You need to believe in yourself. You’ll make it.

8. The Patriot (2000)

Set specific goals. Aim for that goal. It does not matter what you are shooting for. Aim Small, Miss Small.

9. Mulan

People are always saying they will do anything for their family. Will you improve your health for your family?

10. Any Given Sunday

Football, like life, is a game of inches. The inches we need are all around us. Are you going to fight for that inch?

11. Captain America

Captain America stands alone against the impossible. He does not give up but stands in an effort to accomplish the impossible. When you refuse to give up others will soon join to help.

12. For Love of the Game

There may be occasions where you have nothing left in the tank. If you have inspired others they will return the favor and pull you through.

13. Rocky

The greatest movie scene of all time. Sometimes nothing should stop you from reaching your goal. The scene is summed up years later when Rocky says “It is not about how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.”

14. Miracle

Nothing is impossible if you believe in miracles.

Hopefully that will get you going.
